The Junior Jacket Club was a club formed by the Georgia Tech Athletic Association to allow children to become involved in Georgia Tech athletics. Participants in the club received a certificate of membership, free tickets to some Georgia Tech games, newsletters, T-shirts, and other items. Eventually, due to NCAA regulations, membership was limited to children who were 14 years old or younger. The Georgia Institute of Technology, commonly referred to as Georgia Tech or Tech, was founded on October 13, 1885 as the Georgia School of Technology. The creation of the educational institution was part of the plans of Georgia leadership to reconstruct and revitalize the state's economy following the Civil War.
